I’ve been studying the videos I watch on YouTube and it seems there is a pattern of projects that emerge.
Homesteader
- Turn all of your scraps from the sawmill into firewood.
- Make sure your vehicles have bright lights and maintenance has been performed.
- Harvest all remaining summer crops.
- Ready the generator(s).
My Actual
- Sharpen my hatchet and mess up some knives, before reading that a special stone is recommended for your grinder.
- Check the gas tank in the truck and try to work out the best day in my mind to fill it and stick it to the man.
- Wait until some of the pumpkins get soft in the middle and throw them in the compost.
- Wonder if I am going to get away with peppers growing in the “Fall” that lasted about 6 hours in Houston. (Seriously, we dropped 50° in one afternoon.)
I’ve still got some stuff to learn, but I’m not going to be too down on myself. This is evolutionary, not revolutionary (like the transition from Summer to Winter in Houston).
